The scholarship page is continuously updated with all new scholarship opportunities that become available to Smoky Mountain High School students. Some scholarships will require SMHS students to come pick up an application from the Student Support Center, remember if you need a transcript or recommendation to complete those request forms in advance! In addition, scholarship alerts will periodically be sent via the email blast, and the Sunday connect-ed calls.

All students should remember to complete their
Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA, and will need to sign with their FSA ID.

If you have any questions about scholarship opportunities, the application process, or need assistance with locating scholarships to apply for, please contact your School Counselor and they will be glad to assist you and answer any questions you may have.

Remember: You should NEVER pay to apply for a scholarship!

Use the following helpful tips as you begin the process of applying for scholarships. The students who are most successful at earning scholarships are students who follow these points:

  • Remember that applying for scholarships is the responsibility of the student.
  • Smoky Mountain High School is not notified of all scholarships available at a particular college, so students are encouraged to contact the college they hope to attend and ask for information on freshman scholarships.
  • Don’t procrastinate! Get busy on this part of your college planning early and stay on top of it. Your success will depend on your perseverance, organization, and your ability to meet deadlines.
  • Be sure to give your teachers and counselors adequate time to write recommendations for you. Two weeks is a good rule of thumb. Give them a list of activities and awards that are noteworthy in the recommendation- (use a copy of your resume or we have a recommendation request form that can be used to organize this information). When given sufficient time, teachers can write a meaningful letter that truly reflects each student’s unique qualities.
  • Remember you want your application to be clean, clear, and look professional, we recommend that students type scholarship applications.
